One of these again Part MMCCCXVI: Even More Son of Daughter of One of these again Strikes Back

I know I know I know… this is getting ridiculous

I apologize that many of my already absurdly sporadic posts in the past four or so months have been either (increasingly long) Wikipedia and TouTube/etc. Roundups, or else brief, “ooh look at this” posts with little reflection or analysis. Work for my thesis film has been completely consuming my life (in a good way… usually) and I rarely have enough time to do all the other school work required of me, let alone to write things here. That said, there are about a half a dozen posts I’ve been working on on and off (some of them epically epic - including the looooooonnnnngggg overdue final part of my Curtis x Laing… etc. “trilogy”) that I’m super super duper psyched to finally finish and share with you all… it’s just a matter of finding the time. I know I said three months ago that I’d be making semi-regular posts again “in a few weeks.” Obviously in retrospect that was a ridiculous thing to say. In the name of lowered/realistic expectations and/or not deluding myself, I’ll go ahead and predict that this place is going to continue to be about as slow as it’s been lately until mid-April at the very earliest, and possibly still be kinda slow for yet another month after that. Sorry, duders. Life > blog*.

Does anyone even care that much though? Did you notice I haven’t been posting? Maybe you actually prefer the brief, “ooh look at this” posts to my long-winded tracts on shit you don’t care about? Maybe you just want me to post more albums to download? Tell me about it! Do you like the free association posts? Should I do more of those? What about the Roundups - do you click on those links ever? Or maybe you actually enjoy reading my political/art/whatever writing? Let me know! I’d love to see more discussion and feedback on this site - it’s encouraging… really. And I’d much rather have conversations about this stuff than just have this be a one-sided vehicle for disseminating my thoughts. Show me some love, yo!

*Speaking of Blog: my hard drive that housed my massive image collection crashed a few weeks ago. I plan on getting it restored as soon as I have the money and the time, but God knows when that’ll be. Until then, no more posts on that blog either, I’m sad to say.

One of these again

I know this place has been abominably slow recently.

Lots of shit’s been going down the past month, and I’ve found it rather difficult for my brain to function. Not only that, but now it’s also finals week and I’m in full on senior thesis mode, so yeah.

Expect new stuff in a week or two, and hopefully in a few weeks this blog will be back to running at it’s usual “only kind of slow” pace.

New junk

I just spent two whole days making new tags (”categories”) and re-categorizing all the posts on this blog. Now, instead of only having categories for art, music, and film, there’s 16 rather specific tags. Why I did this I’m not sure, but it took a hell of a lot longer than I thought it would, so you should, like, go look at a bunch of old posts and comment on them or something!

I also weeded through all the links in the link sidebar on the right side of the page and sorted them into three categories, in order of awesomeness/usefulness/whatever. The first category is mostly really useful resources and things that are very important to me, with an emphasis on resources for use in the real world and stuff to help you make the world a better place. The second category is mostly really really really awesome blogs that I couldn’t live without. Please don’t be offended if I stuck your blog or site or whatever in category III; there’s some great stuff in category III.

Also: I’ve been working on a few very long posts, including some from ages and ages ago, as well as the looooong overdue second part of my “Curtis x Laing x Bourriaud x Bey x more” post. So look forward to that.

Coincidence?

Beware of the Blog stole my thunder!

It’s okay though… I stole theirs first (but at least I gave credit!). Nah, really though, probably just a coincidence. Perhaps there’s traces of kid-made-music-love in the water or something recently.

Because my blogs are hard to spell…

Olivia made tiny urls for them:

tinyurl.com/bzapthe

tinyurl.com/blogx10

Thanks, Olivia! What a good idea!

Another apology

Sorry again. I’ve been meaning to post, but my laptop had to go to the laptop hospital for a week, so I’ve been using the school computer lab, which for whatever reason makes writing things on this blog weirder (I think I blog best lying down). Been writing some stuff though. Look forward to more posts very very soon.

Blog’s back

I’ve begun posting on Blog (my other blog) again. As usual, some of the best images didn’t get posted to Google Reader. Go figure. Go check it out yourself.

A quick one

Sorrrrrrrrryyyyyyy for not posting in forever. My life has been all kinds of crazy lately. Not going into it. Hopefully I’ll start posting regularly again very soon. This week? I promised myself I wouldn’t make any more promises to myself, so we’ll see. Haven’t ordered internet in my new apartment yet, but I’ve been leeching off one of my neighbors’ wireless. Oops!

Anyway, something quick I wanted to share…

I started reading The Politics of Experience by R.D. Laing. Haven’t gotten very far, but I was struck by the first line of the Introduction:

“Few books today are forgivable.”

I think few blogs today are forgivable too. Hopefully mine is one of them. See you soon.

Technical issues with Blog

For some reason, when I post things on Blog, not all of my posts wind up showing up in people’s RSS readers (well, Google Reader anyway, haven’t checked any others). I posted over 50 images last night, but only 33 showed up in my Google Reader and my friend Olivia tells me only 10 showed up in hers. This has been a recurring thing for a while.

So if you want to make sure you see all the things I post on Blog, you should check the site itself whenever I post new items, instead of assuming you’re seeing them all in your reader. Not saying you have to or anything. If you don’t want to go through the hassle I’d understand. Just giving you a heads up is all.

On the technical side of things, does anyone know what might be causing it? Is it Wordpress? Dreamhost? Feedburner? I’m leaning toward Feedburner. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I’m guessing it probably has something to do with how quickly I make those posts in rapid succession.

It’s back!

After a two month hiatus, Blog, my other blog, is back up and running. I posted 5 pages of images tonight, so hopefully that’ll at least partially make up for such a long dry spell.

What are you waiting for?!

Go take a look!
